Craft Of The Guild Chest
Made to celebrate the Centenary of the moving of CR Ashbee's Guild of Handicraft workshops from London to Chipping Campden in May 1902. Made from brown oak and cedar with hand tooled, embossed and coloured Leather panels. Hand forged Iron hinges and three copper repoussé panels inside the lid. Representing four of the different crafts practiced by the Guild.
This chest was on exhibition at: The Guild Centenary Exhibition - at the Town Hall, Chipping Campden, 4th - 11th May 2002; Cockneys in Arcadia - at Cheltenham Museum, 18th May - 14th July 2002; A Celebration of Craftsmanship - in Cheltenham College, 17th - 25th August 2002.
Materials: brown oak, cedar, hand tooled Leather, wrought Iron and Copper.
